According to a recent employment survey, the 5 hottest entry-level occupations based on jobs posted during the academic year are:

5. Computer, information technology, and mathematical

4. Architecture and engineering

3. Office, administrative, and customer support

2. Sales and marketing

1. And the NUMBER 1 hottest entry-level job category is... Business operations, human resources and financial services. 

Not surprising then, that the highest in-demand jobs and skills were:

  • Entry level programmers
  • Electrical and mechanical engineers
  • Administrative assistants and call center workers
  • Accounting and audit-related skills
  • And human resource and labor relations training

Making the Most of a Bad Interviewer

The only thing that might be more difficult to deal with than an interviewer who asks tough, probing questions is an interviewer who hasn’t a clue how to interview. You can leave feeling as if you ignited no interest, bombed the interview, and surely won’t be asked back.  Where was the scintillating conversation?  The professional give and take about the industry and your skills? 

But if you’ve just met the person, how are you to know if they’re a lousy interviewer – or you’re a lousy interview?  If you prepared for the interview, then you’ve an indication where the problem lies, because your preparation enables you to jump in and take control of those awkward moments.
